Abby Phung Nguyen’s journey to founding Mama’s Organics wasn’t a straight path—rather, it was a personal transformation fueled by love, family, and the realization that true health goes beyond just physical appearance.
Growing up, Abby and her family struggled to make ends meet. Immigrating to the U.S. in 1990, her focus was solely on survival. She poured herself into her studies while helping her parents with any odd jobs they could find to get by. In those early years, the priority was always just getting through the day, and like many, Abby didn’t have the knowledge or resources to understand the importance of healthy eating or an active lifestyle. Convenience and processed foods became her reality. Over time, this lack of awareness—coupled with the unknown consequences of poor eating habits—took a serious toll on her body, leading to constant weight fluctuations and digestive struggles. But as Abby neared her 50th birthday, something shifted. Everything began to change.
With two young children and a husband who commits to healthy eating, Abby began to reflect on what truly mattered most in life: her family’s well-being. As a mother, she wanted to ensure her children grew up in a healthy environment, nourished by wholesome food and surrounded by the knowledge of how to take care of their bodies and minds. But her journey wasn’t just about them—it was also about her. Abby realized that to truly take care of those she loved, she had to start with herself.
Turning 50 was a wake-up call. Abby found herself at a crossroads—where she could either continue down the same path or make a change. She decided it was time to embrace a healthier lifestyle, not just for her children but for her own well-being as well. This new mindset led Abby to explore organic foods, sustainable living, and a holistic approach to health. She quickly learned how much the food we eat and the way we live impact our overall health, energy, and longevity.
Inspired by her personal transformation, Abby set out to create Mama’s Organics with a clear mission: to offer healthy, organic products that make it easier for families to live well, starting with the foundation of good food. Her goal was not only to provide high-quality organic products but also to educate and inspire others to embrace a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle. To deepen her knowledge and commitment to wellness, Abby is set to begin the Health and Wellness Coaching program with Harvard Medical School starting in February 2025, where she hones her expertise in holistic health. This further fuels her desire to create a positive impact through Mama's Organics, blending her newfound knowledge with her passion for organic living.
Choosing Central Florida as the base for her company, Abby acquired two farms—one she built from the ground up, and the other, already in full operation with 32 USDA-certified SKUs, is led by an 82-year-old expert in organic farming. This expert continues to manage both farms, overseeing farming operations and product creation. Together, these farms form the backbone of Mama’s Organics, producing the company’s signature products—organic teas, plant-based powders, and all organic materials for future product lines made from the plants themselves. And because Abby can grow all of these products, she ensures not only the highest fresh quality but also passes the savings on to her customers, as there are no middle parties involved. By overseeing both farms, Abby ensures that every product, from teas to powders, is grown and crafted with the same care and attention she applies to her own health and her family’s well-being.
As a mother of young children, Abby understood the challenges of balancing a busy life while trying to make healthier choices. With Mama’s Organics, she aimed to make those choices easier for other parents, offering organic products that could fit seamlessly into busy lifestyles while supporting their health goals.
Abby’s journey to health wasn’t just about changing her habits—it was about a complete shift in perspective. Today, as she approaches her 50s with newfound energy, Abby is driven not only by her personal health but also by a deep desire to impact the lives of others, especially families.
